I first contacted Igor Spacek at SD Planes about purchasing a set of plans on March-15-2024. I planned to first study the construction and to confirm my decision about building an SD-1 Minisport.
The package with the plans arrived in early April-2024. Meanwhile, after a few unsuccessful emails, I was able to get in touch with the USA dealer, John Vining. By the end of April-2024, after Igor Spacek figured out the shipping costs, I placed my order for the 51% kit, TGC (tri-gear, controlled nose wheel) version. John Vining promised about a 5 month waiting time.
Shortly after I submitted the order, in late April-2024, Igor requested the first 50% payment. The 5 month mark (Sept-2024) came and went. Then in late December-2024 Igor said that my kit was nearly ready, the only issue was that the rescue chute was not yet available. I sent the second part of the payment in January-2025. It took until March-2025 before the kit was shipped. Then another 1+ months before it arrived to a sea port in the USA, and then eventually to my house.
